Joining the Dots - How to Make Friends after a Pandemic
/The past year has been tough.
We've faced months of lockdowns, threats of illness and losses of all kinds. After so much time separated from other people, it feels a little strange to step back into the world of relationships.
But for many of us, we are ready to seek out what we've been missing.
Meaningful connections have taken on a new level of importance this year.
Prior to Covid-19, many of us were accustomed to fleeting interactions, passing friendships and hurried social lives. Then all that disappeared and we were left with a large hole to fill. For most of us, the hole is still very much present!
So what can we do to fill in the void as we emerge from lockdown?
One answer lies in our hobbies.
Taking part in activities is a great way of getting to know new people. Singing is particularly well known for forming bonds and cementing lasting friendships.
When singing in a group, we are more relaxed, open and receptive to new people. Our guards are let down quicker, and we tend to trust people faster than usual. And these relationships tend to be longer lasting, too. Through song, we make and become better companions!
Don't just take our word for it! We've had friends, flatmates, new business buddies and even partners and spouses meet in our choir sessions!
What makes a Starling Arts session so conducive to new friendships?
We keep things fun, friendly, and open at all times!
What if you're shy and making friends doesn't come easily to you?
Don't worry, we'll be on hand to make introductions and ensure that there's always something to bond over. From ice breakers to mindfulness and team challenges, our unique selection of activities always leave our members feeling uplifted and sociable! There are also plenty of social opportunities, and cake features highly in many of our interactions!
