Finsbury Park Hints and Tips
/The Starling Voices North are coming to Finsbury Park this September!
Find out more about the area and all it has to offer below!
Finsbury Park
Named after its beautiful Victorian parkland, Finsbury Park is a cosmopolitan, urban area to the north of central London. Arsenal Football Club’s Emirates Stadium is nearby. It sits within the London boroughs of Islington, Haringey and Hackney.
How to get there
Finsbury Park is a travel hub, with its two tube lines, multiple bus routes and many National Rail lines arriving and departing from its station. Part of the East Coast Main Line from Kings Cross, it’s possible to travel to Peterborough and Cambridge, as well as using taking the Thameslink to Gatwick Airport and Brighton. It’s also an interchange with the Piccadilly and Victoria Lines, getting passengers quickly into central London and beyond.
What to do there
The grounds at Finsbury Park are extensive and host a large amount of events, performances and festivals. There’s a cafe, children’s play area, lake and beautiful features such as the Mackenzie Garden, which is a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by!
Walks
The Parkland Walk is definitely worth checking out! It follows the course of the old railway that ran between Finsbury Park and Alexandra Palace. The four and a half miles provides tranquillity and a chance to enjoy a green environment in the very heart of the city.
It is London's longest Local Nature Reserve and supports a remarkable range of habitats and wildlife. Over two hundred species of wild flower have been recorded and it is probably the only place in Haringey where orchids rub shoulders with dandelions, and ivy clambers up fig trees.
Cafes
For a great cup of coffee in the area, head to Blighty Coffee, sustainable coffee roasters who have been sourcing, roasting and serving organic coffee since 2013.
Quirky and fun, The Front Room Cafe serves delicious homemade food in a cool, relaxed environment.
